FAQ's

Do you have any questions about the process of how tint gets applied? Maybe you are wondering how to properly care for your tint after you get it professionally installed? This page has been designed to answer all of your questions with as much detail as possible.

All Categories of Tint

This should hopefully answer all of your questions with every category of tint. This means that if you have a question that relates to another industry, the questions and answer should be similar.

Q1

What is window tinting?

Window tinting is the process of applying a thin film to the interior surface of glass windows. It serves various purposes such as reducing glare, enhancing privacy and security, protecting against UV rays, and more.

This answer is relevant to all types of tinting we offer.

Q2

Is window tint legal?

The legality of window tint varies by location. It's essential to check your local regulations regarding tint darkness, reflectivity, and placement to ensure compliance.

Q3

What are the benefits of window tint?

Window tint offers several benefits, including:

  • UV protection: Tinted windows can block harmful UV rays, protecting occupants and interior surfaces from sun damage.

  • Heat rejection: Tinted windows can reduce heat buildup inside the vehicle, home, excavator, and more, improving comfort and reducing the need for air conditioning.

  • Glare reduction: Tinted windows can minimize glare from sunlight and headlights, enhancing visibility and safety. It also helps with marine applications, when the sun beams off the water.

  • Privacy: Tinted windows can enhance privacy by making it difficult for outsiders to see into the vehicle or property.

Q4

What types of window tint are available?

There are various types of window tint, including:

  • Dyed tint: Uses a dye to absorb solar heat and reduce glare.

  • Metalized tint: Contains metallic particles to reflect heat and enhance durability.

  • Ceramic tint: Utilizes ceramic particles to provide superior heat rejection and clarity without interfering with electronic devices.

This applies to every category of tint, except flat glass - as there are more options available.

Q5

How long does window tint last?

The lifespan of window tint depends on factors such as the quality of the film, installation technique, and environmental conditions. High-quality tint applied by a professional (like us 😉) can last upwards of 5 to 10 years or more with proper care.

Q6

Can window tint be removed?

Yes, window tint can be removed using specialized tools and techniques. It's essential to have tint professionally removed to avoid damaging the glass or leaving behind adhesive residue.

Q7

Does window tint affect visibility at night?

Properly installed window tint should not significantly impair visibility at night. However, excessively dark tint or poor-quality installation can reduce visibility, especially in low-light conditions.

Q8

Can I wash my windows after they get tinted?

It's recommended to wait at least a few days before washing newly tinted windows to allow the film to fully adhere. When cleaning tinted windows, use a mild soap and a soft, non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratching the film. Invisible Glass is another great product that we use, as it is ammonia free and safe for the tint.

Q9

Why do I see bubbles?

White specs are contamination, while transparent, greyer bubbles are humidity/moisture. These can show up within 24 hours. There is moisture and humidity stuck between the glass and no matter how hard or aggressive your squeegee, they won't be preventable. These will dry in 3-5 days. Weather and temperature play huge roles of the curing process. If it is super cold, it could take up to a month or two for everything to be fully cured.

Q10

How do I know if I have factory tint?

An easy way to tell, is if there is a gap around the edge of the window. If you can see daylight about a 1/4 of an inch from the top when the window is rolled down, that Is usually a sign that it is aftermarket. If there is no gap, and the whole window looks to be the same, then it came like that from factory.

Q11

What is Factory tint?

Factory tint, officially known as privacy glass, is an electrical process called "deep dipping" that involves dying the inside of automotive glass with a dark pigment. The tint percentage is usually 15-26%.

Q12

Do factory tints protect against UV rays?

Factory vehicle tint does not protect against UV rays. You would want an aftermarket window film because it will protect you and your passengers against harmful UV rays in addition to making your vehicle's interior more comfortable.

Flat Glass Related

This should hopefully answer all of your questions with flat glass tint. Everything from care to types of film that are offered.

Q1

What is flat glass?

Flat glass refers to the glass used in homes, offices, storefronts, and other buildings. Unlike automotive glass, which is curved, flat glass is typically smooth and straight, making it perfect for applying window film for privacy, security, UV protection, and energy efficiency.

Q2

What’s the difference between reflective and dual-reflective film?

Reflective film has a mirror-like finish on one side, bouncing sunlight away to reduce heat and glare. However, at night, when lights are on inside, visibility can be reversed.

Dual-reflective film is a step up—it has a reflective outer layer for daytime privacy and a less reflective inner layer, so your view remains clear at night. It's a great choice for homes and businesses where maintaining an inside view is important.

Q3

What films do you offer?

We offer a range of films, including:

  • Solar control films – Reduce heat, glare, and UV damage.

  • Privacy films – Frosted, tinted, or mirrored options to keep prying eyes out.

  • Security films – Reinforce glass to help prevent break-ins and shattering.

  • Special purpose films – White out, black out, and amber film can be applied for a unique look.

  • Anti-graffiti films – A protective layer against scratches, vandalism, and etching.

Not sure what you need? Contact us and we can help you choose the best film for your space!

Q4

Can people see inside from the outside?

It depends on the film! Reflective and dual-reflective films provide daytime privacy, making it hard for people to see in while allowing you to see out. Frosted and blackout films offer total privacy day and night. If privacy is your goal, we’ll make sure you get the right film for the job.

With that being said, both reflective and dual reflective film allow the darker side to see the lighter side. This means if it is darker outside, and you have more light on the inside of the building, people will be able to see in from the outside. A simple fix to this is to install an exterior light pointing at the window so the reflectivity effect works better.

Q5

What are the benefits of window film for my home or business?

Installing window film comes with a ton of advantages, including:

  • Energy efficiency – Blocks heat in the summer and retains warmth in the winter.

  • Lower energy bills – Reduces strain on your HVAC system.

  • UV protection – Blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays to protect furniture, flooring, and skin.

  • Glare reduction – Keeps screens and workspaces comfortable.

  • Privacy – Keep nosy neighbors and passersby from looking in.

  • Security – Strengthens glass to deter break-ins and minimize damage from impacts.

Q6

What’s the largest roll size available?

The widest film roll we can get is 72 inches. If your windows are wider than that, we can seamlessly overlap the film with a tiny, nearly invisible 1/16-inch seam. This line will be slightly darker than the rest of the window.
